Hello Heart Partners, I hope you’re in a great discovery phase that “WORDS MATTER!” WORDS can be used to exhort, encourage, illuminate, give hope, heal, bring joy, and a multitude of other GOD-AMAZING attributes! But, and YES there is a BUT…when we are talking about WORDS, and WORD PHRASES, we must STAY AUTHENTIC and REAL!!! Otherwise we are at RISK of OVERTHINKING and ULTIMATELY hurting someone’s heart with great magnitude! Now, some may find that a bit dramatic, but living in Southern CA. a large part of my life MAGNITUDE speaks wildly to me! I always was fascinated by “earthquakes and earth-shakes!” Well, WORDS can do the same…they can male our HEARTS quake and shake, simply because someone “OVER THOUGHT,” or “UNDER THOUGHT,” or were consumed with “SELF-THOUGHT!” CAN YOU RELATE? After writing last week about HOW much our WORDS MATTER…boy have I had a WEEK of a VARIETY of communicative interactions that involved ALL THREE!

So, my heart was led by HOLY SPIRIT to look a bit deeper into the “WHYS,” and how can I be of help and a blessing to each of YOU with THOUGHTFUL WORDS! You see, many of us don’t even speak up anymore due to SNAPS, REACTIVE VOICE TONES, REJECTION, or simply being PERCEIVED and JUDGED for what we have to share! For those of you who know me well, I love to communicate, and my constant prayer is for my WORDS TO MATTER for GOD’S GOOD! Well, as you may know this can be quite tricky when you are in relationship with a variety of personalities. Communication is one of our greatest tools within our relationships as most of us enjoy hearing from one another in authentic, kind, and gracious ways, but sometimes TRUTH needs to be spoken and it can be painful if the communication history is not solid enough to positively receive it! So, here we go…what does one do if this history of communication is not solid, strong, and honest?

Let’s begin by understanding what communication is “supposed” to do…Communication allows one to effectively share feelings, opinions, and expectations. I personally like the 7 Cs of Communication which are: CLEAR, CONCISE, CONCRETE, CORRECT, COHERENT, COMPLETE, and COURTEOUS. BUT, what if the receiver couldn’t “care-less” about my 7 Cs? Well, this is where we need to investigate our motivation for any and all communication. Are you OVER-THINKING what you need to say, and take forever with circuitous conversations, UNDER-THINKING and just “BLAST” others, or are your words more SELF-FOCUSED attempting to get YOUR meaning across without consideration of other’s feelings? We all can have any one of these issues at different points of our journey…so give yourself GRACE! YESHUA always showed us as He was on this earth the pattern of being a SERVANT LEADER…and within that model He demonstrated the need for order, leadership and love “which does not insist on its own way” (1 Corinthians 13:5) YESHUA often modeled concise and courteous communication, even when He had to point out sin, or something unbecoming! One of my favorites is when He is addressing the woman at the well…the communication between the Samaritan woman and YESHUA would be considered a very “frank” conversation, but never once did YESHUA “blast” her but instead His motivation was ETERNAL…not for “in the moment SELF SATISFACTION.” You see YESHUA would end up offering her LIVING WATER-ETERNAL LIFE, but in the process He would point out HIS knowledge of her lifestyle of having 5 husbands and the current man she is with not even being a husband! I love this communicative exchange as we all are in tough situations and right there in print we get YESHUA’S example of how to communicate boldly, concisely, correctly, and truly GOD’s BEST way to get the eternal message across! I am not sure if that is a favorite of yours…but if not read John 4:6-26 and the first thing you will see is that YESHUA was EXHAUSTED when He sat down at the well…and doesn’t that describe us when we are trying to communicate a point to a friend, loved one and sometimes acquaintance! I encourage you to ask for Holy Spirit to increase your knowledge regarding this passage, as I know HE will Illuminate something awesome to you!

Well, I can’t leave you without sharing a tragedy that led to amazing GOD-CENTERED communication! As many of you know we have 3 baby deer living behind us…we had watched the first one grow, and romp, and become quite independent…until 2 days ago he was found hit in the street and killed! I must say I was infuriated as we live in a NEIGHBORHOOD not on a country road, freeway, highway etc! Also the baby was still small and not spry yet! (Someone could have stopped) Okay, besides deep sadness of heart for me…I jumped into action writing a letter of BOLDNESS in LOVE to every city person I could find! I was also able to speak to the Department of Fish and Wildlife which was a LIFE-GIVING chat! The lovely woman told me to, “NOT GIVE UP,” and to keep communicating! I have also been speaking to all of my neighbors and dog walkers! Today, I received an email from the city and it was beyond life-giving and gave me confirmation that they are on top of the SPEEDING ISSUE! He informed me of all they are doing, but the BEST was he affirmed all that I am doing with the neighbors (which he would not have ever known). I stopped and THANKED YESHUA, as it is time wherever you are, whatever you are doing to be a VOICE of boldness in GRACE and LOVE!!! We must stay honest, and authentic and get HIS word out to all! This is how we will ultimately fill HIS GREAT COMMISSION! This is HOW they will KNOW YESHUA is LOVE!!!!

My HOPE is that we all can be honest and reflective about HOW we are communicating! LET’S jump in the COMMUNICATION KAYAK together and SHINE YESHUA’S LIGHT to a very dark world! Remember, in order to write this post, you know I had some BAD, SUPER BAD communication earlier in the week…BUT GOD!!! HE IS THE EPITOME OF GRACE, and taught me through it as I submitted my YUCKY WORDS unto HIM…HE is FAITHFUL to forgive and teach JUST AS HIS WORD SAYS!!!

So go in HIS GRACE…repair some chats if you need to, sincerely apologize, and don’t expect PEOPLE to forgive you…EXPECT GOD to forgive you and “COVER YOUR SIN(multitude of sin) IN HIS GREAT LOVE!” 1Peter 4:8, and echoing this verse is: Proverbs 10:12!!!
